How it is made
What you are actually getting
Chenille is the oldest trick in school spirit wear. Yarn is looped through a felt base and sheared so the surface reads as a soft, fuzzy pile — the texture on every letterman jacket you have ever seen. Because the pile catches light, a chenille letter carries further than a stitched one of the same size.
We build ours on wool-blend felt with an embroidered or merrowed border holding the edge, so the patch keeps its shape through decades in a wardrobe rather than curling at the corners after one season.

Backing options
How it attaches
The backing decides whether the patch is permanent, removable, or something you press on at home in ten seconds.
Heat press
Applied with heat and pressure in a commercial press. The strongest bond and the flattest finish — best for bulk uniform runs.
Sew-on
Stitched directly onto the fabric. Permanent, traditional, and the only sensible choice for leather, heavy denim and thick outerwear.
Velcro
Hook-and-loop backing so the patch comes off and goes back on. Standard for tactical kit, name tapes and anything that swaps between garments.
Iron-on
Heat-activated adhesive you can apply with a household iron. Fast and clean on cotton and poly-cotton; add a few stitches if it will see heavy wear.

The edge is the first thing that frays on a cheap patch. Three ways to finish it properly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Chenille uses thick, plush yarn looped onto a felt backing to create a soft, raised, fuzzy surface. Embroidery uses fine thread stitched flat. Chenille is for bold shapes; embroidery is for detail.
Not reliably. The yarn loops are too thick to resolve small letterforms — they blur together. Small text is better handled by an embroidered border element around the chenille.
High-pile is fluffier and reads better on large, bold designs. Low-pile keeps more definition on smaller patches.
Sew-on, for durability. Iron-on adhesive is available for lighter use, but a heavy chenille patch on a jacket really wants stitching.
Spot-clean or hand-wash, then air-dry. Do not iron the face directly — heat flattens the pile and you will not get it back.
