Sublimation / Printed Patches

Custom sublimated patches with no colour limit

Dye pushed into the fabric under heat, so there is no colour count to design around and no thread chart to compromise with. Gradients, photographs and fine illustration reproduce exactly as supplied.

How it is made

What you are actually getting

Sublimation is not printing on top of fabric — it is printing into it. Under heat and pressure the dye turns to gas and bonds with the polyester fibres themselves. Because there is no ink layer sitting on the surface, there is nothing to crack, peel or wash away.

That makes it the only construction we offer with genuinely unlimited colour. Photographs, airbrushed gradients, watercolour illustration and complex multi-colour artwork all come out as drawn, at a unit price that does not climb with the colour count.

Key features

Why our sublimated patches hold up

01

Unlimited colour

No per-colour charge and no palette limit — a fifty-colour design costs the same as a two-colour one.

02

Photographic detail

Reproduces photographs, gradients and fine illustration that no stitched construction can approach.

03

Will not crack or peel

The dye is bonded into the fibre rather than layered on top, so it survives washing that would destroy a screen print.

04

Any outline

Laser-cut to any silhouette, with an optional embroidered border if you want a stitched edge on a printed face.

Our production process

  1. 01

Send the idea, not a finished file

A sketch on paper, a logo in low resolution, or a description in a WhatsApp message is enough. Our design team redraws it to production quality at no charge.

  2. 02

    Digital mockup inside 24 hours

You get a to-scale visual with thread colours, dimensions and backing called out. Ask for changes as many times as you need — revisions are free until you are happy.

  3. 03

Approve, then production runs 7–14 days

Nothing goes to the floor without your sign-off. On large or repeat orders we can send a physical sample first so you can feel the weight and edge before committing.

  4. 04

    Inspected, boxed, tracked

Every batch is checked for colour match, stitch density, edge finish and backing adhesion. Then it ships with tracking, anywhere in the USA or overseas.

Backing options

How it attaches

The backing decides whether the patch is permanent, removable, or something you press on at home in ten seconds.

Heat press patch backing

Heat press

Applied with heat and pressure in a commercial press. The strongest bond and the flattest finish — best for bulk uniform runs.

Sew on patch backing

Sew-on

Stitched directly onto the fabric. Permanent, traditional, and the only sensible choice for leather, heavy denim and thick outerwear.

Velcro hook and loop patch backing

Velcro

Hook-and-loop backing so the patch comes off and goes back on. Standard for tactical kit, name tapes and anything that swaps between garments.

Iron on patch backing

Iron-on

Heat-activated adhesive you can apply with a household iron. Fast and clean on cotton and poly-cotton; add a few stitches if it will see heavy wear.

Border options

How it ends

The edge is the first thing that frays on a cheap patch. Three ways to finish it properly.

  1. Merrowed border finish

    Merrowed border

The traditional raised, rounded edge. Thick, protective, ideal for simple shapes — circles, shields, rectangles.

  2. Embroidered border finish

    Embroidered border

Clean modern lines that can follow any outline, so intricate and irregular shapes stay sharp.

  3. Laser cut border finish

    Laser cut border

A smooth, sealed edge with a subtle sheen and virtually no bulk. The most precise option for complex silhouettes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Heat and pressure turn solid dye into gas, which bonds directly with polyester fibres. The colour becomes part of the fabric rather than a layer sitting on it.

Correct. Unlike embroidery, where every thread colour is a separate operation, sublimation prints the whole image at once — colour count does not affect the price.

No. Because there is no surface ink layer, there is nothing to crack or flake. Colour retention through repeated washing is excellent.

Yes. We can run an embroidered merrowed or satin border around a sublimated face — a common way to combine photographic detail with a traditional patch edge.

The patch base is polyester, which is what the dye bonds to. It can then be applied to any garment with iron-on, sew-on, Velcro or heat-press backing.
