The importance of patches in clothing

A logo printed on a shirt fades.
A patch stays a physical object.

i

Sturdy materials

Threads, backings and rubbers chosen to survive regular wear and frequent washing — not just to survive the photo shoot. A patch outlives the print it replaces.

ii

Design flexibility

Choose the construction, the colours, the border and the finish independently. The same logo can be plush chenille on a varsity jacket and flat woven on a cap.

iii

Professional look

Ideal for uniforms and branded clothing, where a raised, stitched badge reads as considered and permanent in a way a heat transfer never quite does.

Our custom patch categories

Pick by the artwork, not the price

Select a construction to see how it behaves on fabric, what it is best at, and where it struggles.

Custom embroidered patches with raised stitching

Embroidery Patches

Classic and timeless, engineered with raised stitching

Thread laid down in layers so the design sits proud of the fabric. It is the finish people picture when they hear "patch" — durable, textured, and forgiving on anything from a cap to a jacket back.

  • Company logos
  • Police & military
  • School uniforms
  • Sports teams

Custom chenille varsity patch with plush yarn texture

Chenille Patches

Soft and textured — the varsity jacket standard

Looped yarn cut to create a plush, towel-like pile, usually mounted on felt with a merrowed edge. Bold at a distance, which is exactly what a letterman jacket needs.

Best for

  • Letterman jackets
  • Varsity teams
  • School clubs
  • Retro apparel

Custom PVC rubber patch with moulded 3D detail

PVC Patches

Durable and waterproof for the roughest environments

Soft moulded rubber in layers, so the artwork is physically raised rather than stitched. It shrugs off rain, mud, salt and UV, and the colour will not fade with the seasons.

Best for

  • Tactical gear
  • Outdoor uniforms
  • Marine & industrial
  • Backpacks

Custom woven patch showing fine detail and small text

Woven Patches

Smooth texture, ideal for designs with fine details

Thinner threads woven into the base rather than stitched on top, which gives a flat, low-profile finish. The one to pick when your logo has small type, thin lines or a lot going on.

Best for

  • Detailed logos
  • Small text
  • Fashion labels
  • Caps & beanies

Custom leather patch debossed with a logo

Leather Patches

The heritage finish for denim, caps and workwear

Real or vegan leather, debossed, embossed or laser-etched with your mark. Ages into the garment instead of sitting on it — which is why denim and workwear brands keep coming back to it.

Best for

  • Denim & jeans
  • Hats and caps
  • Bags & wallets
  • Premium retail

Custom sequin patch catching the light

Sequin Patches

Trendy embellishment with a touch of glamour

Sequins set into an embroidered frame so the design shifts and catches light as the wearer moves. Built for stage, street and anything that needs to be seen from the back of the room.

  • Dance & performance
  • Festival wear
  • Statement jackets

Custom sublimated printed patch with full colour artwork

Sublimation / Printed Patches

Complex designs, gradients and photo-quality images

Dye pushed into the fabric under heat, so there is no colour limit and no thread count to design around. Gradients, photographs and fine illustration all reproduce exactly as supplied.

Backing options

How it attaches

The backing decides whether the patch is permanent, removable, or something you press on at home in ten seconds.

Heat press patch backing

Heat press

Applied with heat and pressure in a commercial press. The strongest bond and the flattest finish — best for bulk uniform runs.

Sew on patch backing

Sew-on

Stitched directly onto the fabric. Permanent, traditional, and the only sensible choice for leather, heavy denim and thick outerwear.

Velcro hook and loop patch backing

Velcro

Hook-and-loop backing so the patch comes off and goes back on. Standard for tactical kit, name tapes and anything that swaps between garments.

Iron on patch backing

Iron-on

Heat-activated adhesive you can apply with a household iron. Fast and clean on cotton and poly-cotton; add a few stitches if it will see heavy wear.

Border options

How it ends

The edge is the first thing that frays on a cheap patch. Three ways to finish it properly.

  1. Merrowed border finish

    Merrowed border

The traditional raised, rounded edge. Thick, protective, ideal for simple shapes — circles, shields, rectangles.

  2. Embroidered border finish

    Embroidered border

Clean modern lines that can follow any outline, so intricate and irregular shapes stay sharp.

  3. Laser cut border finish

    Laser cut border

A smooth, sealed edge with a subtle sheen and virtually no bulk. The most precise option for complex silhouettes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Woven for fine lines and small text, sublimated for gradients or photographic artwork. Embroidery is excellent but needs shapes to be simplified below about 3 pt.

No minimum order quantity. Unit pricing improves with volume, and bulk discounts are applied to your quote automatically.

Yes. Send Pantone references and we match thread or pigment to them. Where a PMS colour has no exact thread equivalent we show you the two closest options before production.

It is. Our in-house design team redraws sketches, low-resolution images and screenshots into production artwork at no extra charge.

A mockup lands within 12–24 hours. Once you approve it, production usually takes 7–14 working days, plus shipping. Rush options are available — ask when you request the quote.

Velcro or sew-on. Nylon and other technical shells do not take iron-on adhesive reliably and can scorch under a household iron.

Yes. On larger runs we can produce a physical sample before the full order so you can check the weight, edge and colour in person.

If the delivery does not match the mockup you approved, we remake it. If we still cannot get it right, you get your money back.
